Child Labour – Dhaka, Bangladesh

In 1908, photographer Lewis Hine revealed the harsh truth of child labour in the United States. His striking images shocked the world and sparked change, leading to the establishment of laws that aimed to give children a future beyond factories and sweatshops.

Over a century later, in 2022, I walked through the streets and factories of Bangladesh. The same story unfolded: children with weary hands, lost childhoods, and futures stolen by necessity. The faces may have changed, but the injustice remains the same.

How have we let history repeat itself? If we once fought to end child labour, why does it still exist?

It’s time to ask ourselves: What are we doing wrong?
